This cherry candy blend can sneak up on you. The Vitamin N on this is medium-high; start off small and see how you take it. I struggled to use this all day without feeling a head rush.
As the second Poschl product I've tried, the grind and fluff of JBR Red are nearly identical to those of the Alpina. The medium-coarse grind is paired with a very fluffy presentation, soft and easily fluffed in the hand; the coarseness may seem intimidating, but it was actually easy to hold in the nose. Moisture is present, and when combined with the fluffy grind, it makes this seem a bit more moist than it actually is. Still, much more moist than McChrystal's family of snuffs, but not as damp as a fresh Red Bull. The moisture level is also about the same as Alpina, with both being easy to pinch and take from the anatomical snuff box.
Unlike Alpina, though, this mix has more of a cherry candy-like smell than the candied berry found in Alpina. The cherry here is similar to a Danish cherry and reminds me of an artificial cherry, whereas Alpina comes across as a mixture of berries that have been candied over heat in a pot. A sweetness is also found when biting into a maraschino cherry, which is present throughout the snuff. The Vitamin N on this is also more pronounced; having recently reviewed JIP!, this level of nicotine comes reasonably close. Along with the Danish cherry, you are greeted with a healthy dose of cooling menthol and a subtle funk found in all Poschls. This snuff would be excellent if the cherry could be remade to be a candied cherry!
