A pinch of the German glacier presents menthol and tobacco to the nostrils, with the typical Poschl funk behind it. The menthol here lacks any pronounced mintiness, as the menthol is front and centre; if there are other "cooling agents", they are lost to me. This funk is more akin to aged tobacco, whereas the funk in Alpina and JBR Red is a more pronounced distinction, almost a separate additive. This pinch of the glacier's menthol and Vitamin N does not come in guns blazing like JIP!. Instead, this agent is more of the "concealed carry" type, with an inherent ability to "get the party started," but not in an intrusive way.
The tobacco itself is medium to dark brown, with occasional specks of a light tan, which I imagine come from processing the leaf's veins, and it stays consistent once the menthol and funk are down. The medium-coarse grind, coupled with moderate moisture and ample fluffiness, makes this an easy-to-use snuff, though it's worth watching the wind, as the fluffy composition can catch it and send it flying; it stays in the nose and isn't hard to sniff. The moisture content is a smidgen drier than Alpina or JBR Red, but still more moist than traditional English snuffs like McChrystals, and being moist with a medium grind, it's easy to pinch. The snuff also contains cooling agents that help mask irritation, and the menthol and minor notes of camphor and eucalyptus create a nice mask for the minor burn of the Vitamin N, a little boost of energy in a nice and simple format that's approachable and safe to use throughout the day without a headrush. Although this is not the most robust menthol, the blend is easy to take, sits in the nose well, and provides the needed Vitamin N with only minor drip.
