Coarse Samsoun snuff with salmiak

A small 11 g batch of coarse snuff from Orient Samsoun leaf, with soda ash and salmiak (ammonium chloride). It turned out a favourite.

Digital scalesFor weighing tobacco, alkalis and salt accurately, which matters most when you're working in small batches.Mixing bowlFor stirring liquids into ground tobacco and letting it sit while it takes up moisture.SievesFor separating fine snuff from the coarse bits after grinding.GlovesFor handling alkalis such as sodium carbonate (soda ash), potash and slaked lime.

Tasting notes
The salmiak adds nose burn and ammonia and rounds off the back drip.
Notes
Potash could replace the sodium carbonate in a future batch. Wear gloves when you handle soda ash and salmiak, and keep both out of your eyes.
