Wilsons Extra M has a medium-fine grind with moderate moisture content. The blend is heavily mentholated, with menthol as the primary note supported by eucalyptus, camphor, and natural tobacco. Secondary notes include hints of leather and citrus. The colour is mid to light brown.

Nicotine strength is medium-high. The menthol content is intense and this is a straightforward mentholated English snuff with minimal variation beyond the cooling elements. The base uses natural tobacco with a slight ammonia note.

This snuff contains a moderate amount of vitamin N, right in line with the English style snuffs. The moisture content is comparable to that of most English-style snuffs, drier in nature with no clumping in the tin. The grind is medium-fine in texture, keeping with most English-style snuffs, though the fine grind and somewhat dry nature can hit the back of the nose if sniffed too hard.

As the name suggests, Extra M delivers on its namesake extra menthol, right out of the tin. The nose is greeted by a strong menthol front, backed by eucalyptus that rides quietly in the background. This is a sharp, bracing snuff, but it's not overwhelming. Many English medicated snuffs build on the trinity of menthol, camphor, and eucalyptus. Extra M leans hardest into menthol, using eucalyptus as its steady carrier. Camphor isn't dominant here, which lets the cooling effect stay sharp and clear. Once the initial blast settles, a toasted or slightly malted tobacco note closes out the experience, familiar and well-mannered.

The grind is fine and consistent, producing only a mild nose drip. It's not as sinus-clearing as No. 66, but it doesn't need to be. Extra M carries enough strength to wake up the nose, yet it's controlled enough for all-day use if that's your preference. For me, this has become a go-to palate cleanser. Between flavoured or scented snuffs, Extra M offers a clean reset—a menthol-forward refresher that stands on its own. I'm also looking forward to trying it as a blend base, especially with something like Apri by Wilsons, for a chilled fruit twist. If menthol is your compass, Extra M deserves a place in the tin rotation.
