Red Seal Sweet Snuff is reckoned by many to be king of the hill for sweet strong snuffs in the US market. It is ground from superior more expensive leaves in the tobacco plant and the price reflects this. Up there with Bruton and Rooster, Red Seal's Scotch cousins.
Red Seal Sweet Snuff is a dry, nasal snuff typically, though some people, particularly in southern states do pack it in their mouths. Either way it takes practice and is not recommended for beginners. The nic kick is plenty strong and the flavour is complex. Red Seal Sweet Snuff is not sweet in the dip sense of the word. Since it is put into the nose it is a sweet fragrance rather than sugar sweet. Even then it is subtle.
Here is a typical review:
Probably my favorite of the American snuffs. Super fine grind and very dry, there is a sweet and malty note to this that just hits the spot, its so fine it can cause a coughing fit if your not careful, very nice nicotine hit as well. Won't clog you up and has a nice after blow.
