Rosinski Schnupf was founded it 2014 in Frankfurt near the German-Polish border, with the intent to revive the pre-war Eastern German snuff making tradition. To make these snuffs, ground tobacco leaves are not fermented and subsequently flavored, as often practiced in Western Europe. East German snuff makers ferment the tobacco together with fruit and vegetable juices over a period of several months.
Rosinski´s specialty are green snuffs, for some of which the leaves are dried in a time consuming way, and some of which are left on the field until the first night frosts. Rosinski also specialize in modernizing Schmalzlers, using lighter tobacco cultivars and more contemporary aromas.
