Wilsons Crumbs of Comfort has managed to tin a truly conventional English flavor. The time-honored addition of the spicy version of mentha that combines so well with roasted meats and, in this case, a certain roasted broad leaf cultivar. The piquant taste of spearmint wrapped in a toasted buttery bread aroma created from exclusively culled fermented and finely milled tobacco, imparts a sweet and cooling tingle in the nose. There is a slight burning sensation before an underwhelming menthol ending to this powdered delight, then followed by an exciting rush of endorphins. The color of this marvel is medium brown, the texture is moist, the flour is of a medium-fine grind. This snuff can be truly classified as a great English tradition. Take a pinch and all will be revealed.

Crumbs of Comfort is another of Wilsons of Sharrow's classic offerings. A rather high nicotine, medium moisture snuff, it offers a strong, clear spearmint aroma and slight background mentholation. In the nose, it really is reminiscent of Wrigley's chewing gum, falling somewhere between Spearmint and Doublemint, though closer to the former than the latter. Contributions from the tobacco are subtle, amounting to little more than slight earthy, toasty, lemony presences chasing the spearmint and weaker, more distant menthol. The grind struck me as being somewhat finer than indicated, and while I have an annoying tendency to blast finely ground snuffs down the back of my throat, this snuff was still easy for me to take and sat in my nose well. I could do it all day. Probably a top 5 snuff for me and one that I would feel comfortable recommending to anyone.
Ahh, Crumbs of Comfort. One of the absolute classics, and for a very good reason. The spearmint is very refreshing and it isn't overdone, but it still lasts for a good amount of time. The clearing effect is great if you suffer from allergies (and I most certainly do). It also has a nice, natural sweetness that I think is due to the tobaccos used. I swear it's got Burley in it, maybe Virginia... in any regard, what makes Crumbs of Comfort truly great is the way the natural sweetness is complimented by the spearmint, and how well balanced the flavors are.
The grind is pretty fine and the moisture is moderate. I have no trouble taking it. It never clogs me up. When I'm in the mood for it, I can easily use it all day long without getting bored.
I highly recommend it. I think every snuffer owes it to themselves to try it at least once. I'll always have some on hand. Truly excellent.
Straight spearmint, I don't get any menthol, which is rather unique and nice. Medium strength, rather on the fine side of grind. The spearmint doesn't last as long as most menthols in my nose, and more "natural" seeming. Tobacco comes through a bit, but later on, by which time I've usually taken another little sniff and the spearmint is back!
This may be the first time I've ever used the please "overwhelmingly minty" as a complement. The spearmint is all you can smell for the next while, but it's the most refreshing kind, like in Wrigley's gum or a Newport cigarette.
Ok, maybe not a flattering description. Seriously, though, I like it.
High in nicotine and of medium moisture, Crumbs of Comfort is a taste of spearmint reminiscent of Wrigley’s chewing gum. More accurately, it has the flavour of a full-bodied toothpaste, without any of the negative connotations that image might imply. It is salutary, like brushing one’s teeth after a night’s debauchery, helping to scrape away the sins, both remembered and forgotten, of the recent past. As with any form of auto-flagellation, one pass is never enough to get the job properly done. “Please Sir, I want some more.”
