CUSTOMER REVIEW: There is no doubt in my mind why this is Bernard's flagship product. This is the schmalzler by which all others must be measured. I really can't add much to the comments below, as this snuff is well reviewed, but I write reviews for my own records.
Doppelt Fermentiert means 'double fermented' presumably that means it went twice to get extra flavoring. It is quite sweet and has all of the sweet flavors others have mentioned, namely maple and dried fruits. Its very rich and although course, its quite soft. It does not cause much nose-burn. Very full bodied, strong but not smokey tobacco flavors. Excellent.

This has always been one of my favorite schmaltzlers and seems to me to be the benchmark schmaltzler. The grind is quite coarse, though does not seem like snuffing black pepper as some other coarsely ground snuffs. Be prepared for much drip, both front and back, and can be a messy snuff to use. The flavors are absolutely mind blowing, reminding me of rum and raisins, figs, and dark fruit. Nicotine seems to me moderate and slow growing, but definitely present and pleasant. I have no complaints with the snuff itself, but I do wish it would come in larger sizes than the 10g tap boxes. This is one of my all-time favorites and a classic! Would definitely recommend to beginners and seasoned snuffers alike,
This is the most basic schmalzer. It has a very light top note compared to most, which allows the tobacco to really shine through. It is figgy, has a "dusty chocolately ferment" note to it, and never is cloying. If you find their sweetest and most heavily scented offering, Klostermischung, too over the top, this is a good place to start. If you find it too bland, then try Klostermishung. Personally, I like to have them all handy.
My introduction to schmalzler and not a disappointment. Quite moist and a little coarse. Black cherry? Thats whats i remember but dont have it with me and was a few years ago when i tried it. Remember that i needed a hanky with this one though and really any schmalzler. I dont sneeze much anymore from snuff but did when i started. But the schmalzlers will cause my nose to run still.
My 1st smaller. I like it. A lot. Can clog the sinuses a lol bit, is the only problem. Otherwise, 1st rate snuff. Slightly sweet. Sticks to ya and makes for a pleasant atmosphere. Goes great with heavy darker ales. And in the autumn late summer
Love the notes on this snuff, very tasty. Savory bread pudding vibes with dates, plums, butter notes. Premium blending. I however cannot fully enjoy this blend as I would like because it sets off my allergies. Fits of sneezing, throat irritation, super runny vibes nose and eyes... So I say this to say, it is not the snuff, it is me so we will have to take long breaks in the relationship. lol Bought two and another kind from Bernards same results. The blends and I don't mesh well. Smaller pinch in one nasal cavity will keep me from allergy od. Definitely recommend for anyone who has less allergic moments. I was weary of the Indian Snuffs but they are fine. No set offs. The Schmalzter I have to just go super light. Cheers!
