The name comes from a place famous for green snuff. Kovno. (in Lithuanian, Kaunas; in Polish, Kowno)
This is one of the few green snuffs available commercially though they are still common in that part of the world.
Also the green snuffs are usually brown in color and this snuff is medium to dark brown.
At first, you get some ammonia, (very fresh thank you Mr snuff) after that the snuff smells a little like the geckachelter virgini. At first the smell is a sweet and sour Virginia tobacco smell but with way less smoke than the GV.
In the nose I am reminded of beautiful aged hay and old barn wood but then the green tobacco presents floral-like notes like most fine natural snuffs but this is clearly different. The floral aspect to this green snuff crescendos into an almost baby powder floral smell.
I don't like baby powder but I do like this because it's a natural snuff that is unique and enjoyable.
this was the driest snuff I have ever seen. it was like sand coming out of the container, but I loved the sent of it. If this snuff had been a little more moist with the same flavor it would have been great, but because of the dryness I would have to say that it's just okay. Not too great, but not to bad. I have also read reviews saying that the moistness is often varied, and if I had happened to get one of those moist ones I would have had a great review for it
