Gawith Hoggarth S.P. is a great English interpretation of a Spanish styled snuff. The blend evokes a smoky campfire on a moist evening followed by notes of bitter lemon or bergamot. This snuff is very pleasant in the nose with a balanced aroma, long lasting and very moreish. Medium moisture and grind that is very easy to take and has abundant nicotine. Can easily become a customary pinch.

Available in a variety of convenient container sizes.

Eggs Benedict

With sweat beading my brow, following the perennial fight to open another Gawith and Hoggarth vacuum sealed tin, my eyes were greeted by the sight of a finely milled russet snuff smelling of wet leaves, ammonia and bergamot. This unique smell is quite different from the other SPs I’ve had the pleasure to respire. After working my way through its wonderfully long burn, the distinctive taste of tobacco, civet and neroli oil was a real pleasure to savour. G&H’s lingering SP gives you the flavour of bitter orange without the Earl Grey taste. With no sneeze, no drip and a medium dose of nicotine, this lovely snuff is a nice addition to the brunch table as it is a good friend to both Mimosas and Eggs Benedict.

Delicious Blend

What a shame I never tried this one before. Unlike most other SP snuffs, this snuff has a delicate, almost floral bouquet, somewhere between bergamot and neroil, but neither! I can't identify the scent, but it's delicious, and blended with a very nice, medium brown tobacco base. It could easily be my new favorite SP. It is quite different than Wilson's Best SP, Toque, or anything else I have tried over many years of snuffing. The tobacco is easy to snuff, and shines through the scent, yet is not overpowering. This is a snuff I'd like to have a large drum of, were it available. If you're an SP fan, you simply must this, it's very, very good.

Pleasant Surprise

SgtJon

Not quite what I was expecting from a standard SP, but I was pleasantly surprised. Its a fluffy, light brown blend that delivers a wonderful bouquet of scents. Easy to take with a character that I took an instant liking to.

Easy-Going All Day

I really like Gawith Hoggarth S.P. I like it for its subtlety. The bergamot scent isn't overbearing at all. It's well balanced against the somewhat nutty, earthy scent of the tobacco. The two scents harmonize marvelously. The nicotine content is medium plus. The grind is fine and silky and the moisture content is moderate.

This is one that I can take all day. I would put it very close to the top of my list, right behind the also subtle S.P.2 by Wilsons of Sharrow, which is my all-time favorite S.P. Still, it's a very close second. I highly recommend this one to anybody who wants an easygoing, all-day S.P. that has good balance. Just a great, uncomplicated snuff.

Truly a Joy

My favorite SP. It is also the softest, and easiest to use snuff that I know of. Gawith & Hoggarth's almond (heavy florals and almond) was my hands down favourite snuff until it was discontinued, fortunately I was able to stockpile several drums of it in mason jars before it ceases production, and I find myself turning to this snuff rather than opening my desert island almond snuff, as the flour is so similar, and comes through without being masked by the heavy florals present in almond. I hope they never discontinue the remaining G&H snuffs, because they are truly a joy. A contender, among a half dozen others, for my current favourite.
